An alliance of businesses in the business of water

Major contract secured between Hydro-dis and Indian company Carbon Services

June 4, 2018

Water Industry Alliance member Hydro-dis, in partnership with Carbon Services India, has installed and commissioned one of its water treatment systems in Barasat – about 30 kilometres from Kolkata (Calcutta). The installation is at the Zilla Parishad Office (District Administration Head Quarters) and supplies water to the office workers and residents of the area.

The installation is part of an upgrade to a solar-powered water supply point and consists of a solar-powered bore pump, Hydro-dis technology, raw water tank, multiple filters including carbon, fluoride and arsenic and clear water tank.

This work in India follows on from an introduction by the Alliance at its first business delegation to New Delhi last September.

“We took six companies who participated in two days of meetings and presented to over 200 of India’s largest water-related companies,” Water Industry Alliance CEO Rachel Barratt said. “Carbon Services India saw the presentation of the Alliance members delegation and identified the technology being offered by Hydro-dis as a major game-changer.”

Carbon Services India Managing Director Abhijit Chakravarty said that the installation of the Hydro-dis technology on this site was significant as the technology was the final part of the process to deliver safe disinfected drinking water, which provided ongoing protection to the workers and residents who collect the water and take it back to their work stations or homes for use throughout the day.

Hydro-dis CEO Mark Carey said the partnership with Carbon Services India built upon the outcomes of the Demonstration Unit in Rajasthan they were invited to install following last year’s business delegation.

“We look forward to working with Abhijit and the Carbon Services team to roll out the Hydro-dis technology in Bengal,” he said.
