Chief Executive Officer
Rachel commenced in the role of CEO of the Water Industry Alliance in July 2016. Rachel brings extensive experience to the role having worked in the water industry for nearly 20 years. In that time she has held senior roles within government and as an independent consultant.
Rachel has worked at the forefront of strategy, policy, engagement and program development including providing strategic and policy advice to the Chief Executive of the SA Department for Water and the SA Minister for the River Murray, being a member of the South Australian Murray Darling Basin Natural Resource Management Board and playing a key role in the development of Water for Good, South Australia’s Plan to secure water until 2050.
Rachel is a skilled facilitator who is often asked to bring people together to identify solutions collaboratively. Rachel holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Studies, a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Geography and Politics and Graduate Certificate in Future Studies. She continues to supplement her tertiary qualifications with accredited training courses in Stakeholder Engagement and Facilitation, Risk Communications, Media Training and Freelance Journalism.
Events & Business Services Manager
Jessica joined the Water Industry Alliance in November 2013. As the Events & Business Services Manager, Jess runs all the WIA events, is the contact person for memberships and ensures the smooth running of the WIA office.
Jess has previously worked in a range of business and project support roles within Government, including the Department of Primary Industries and Regions, the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion, as well as for a State Member of Parliament.
Jess' background in events comes from her previous employment with Disney Cruise Line working onboard their fleet of cruise ships as the Entertainment Operations Assistant.
Jess has also completed a Bachelor's Degree in International Studies, majoring in Politics and International Relations and is currently completing a Diploma in Event Management.
Marketing & Communications Manager
Kathryn joined the Water Industry Alliance in August 2017. With an established background in journalism, digital media and strategic communications as well as stakeholder engagement, Kathryn brings a wide variety of expertise to the team.
Kathryn manages all aspects of marketing and communications strategy, media relations, branding and digital content from development to implementation. She works closely with members and external stakeholders to enhance promotion of the Alliance and connect members with opportunities to add value to their business.
Prior to joining the Alliance, Kathryn was PR and communications manager for the Goyder Institute for Water research where she helped raise the Institute’s profile and led the delivery of its key water industry event. Previously, she held strategy and project delivery roles for the public sector, and also worked as an editor and journalist for mainstream media organisations.
Kathryn has a Master of Arts in Journalism from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a Bachelor of Media from the University of Adelaide.
