Council completed a sewer mining scheme to further supplement the non-potable water supplies. It constructed two sewer mining pump stations and a waste water treatment plant capable of treating 1.1 ML per day of sewage to a standard suitable for unrestricted municipal reuse (log 5 virus reduction under the National Water Reuse Guidelines).

The treated effluent is then fed into the distribution network for irrigation use in parks, reserves and ovals. This scheme is now being upgraded to supply log 6.5 virus reduction standard of water to nearby subdivisions.
