South Australia strengthens its engagement with India on future water challenges

On 12 February 2018, the South Australian Government expanded its cooperation with India on water through thesigning of a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra.

South Australia continues to lead the way nationally with tangible partnershipson water across the world, delivering mutual benefit to the State and theregions involved, through joint work on policy frameworks, research, technologytransfer ultimately leading to new exports of water technologies andservices. 

Water Industry Alliance members Dematec Automation, Optimatics and Hydro-diswere invited to present to Maharashtra Government water officials in Adelaide on the back of their previous involvement at the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII-Triveni Water Institute) 3rd Water Innovation Summit last year

In addition, the Government of Maharashtra is considering engaging Hydro-dis for further projects throughout India and the Alliance has been invited toparticipate in the development of the Maharashtra Innovation Centre.

The key areas for cooperation that havebeen agreed between the Government of Maharashtra and South Australia include expertise in water storage, transfer, conflicts between agriculture and rural water demand, governance and coordination, across border water sharing,wastewater treatment and pricing systems.
