An alliance of businesses in the business of water

Aither recognised for their innovative water management framework at the 2019 Smart Water Awards

June 13, 2019

Leading Australian water industry companies have been recognised for excellence in technology and expertise at the Water Industry Alliance’s 2019 Smart Water Awards. In its 16th year, the Awards recognise and celebrate Alliance members for their leading-edge expertise and innovation.

Advisors in water policy and management Aither were awarded the Innovation in SMEs Award at the Ceremony on Friday June 7 for their water management framework – WaterGuide.

WaterGuide is an organising framework for water management and use in response to scarcity that is being used to improve water management globally. It outlines the fundamental elements of improved water management in a flexible and coherent structure to help governments accelerate water reform in the face of growing scarcity.

The judges commented that this systematic assessment tool for complete water systems and water resources is a most welcome methodology to give an objective measure to a complete system.

This work will lead to better focused remediation, management plans and expenditures where water is currently scarce, degraded and sub-optimally managed.

The team at Aither said WaterGuide is not a technical or prescriptive manual, but a framework for initiating and guiding conversations on the large and coordinated institutional and policy reforms needed to make meaningful improvements to water resource management. It is this trait that makes WaterGuide unique.
