Workshop: Grants, Investment and that Winning Pitch

With the increasing focus on businesses needing to pitch ideas, tenders, seek investment and grants to support their business the RDA Adelaide have joined with the Water Industry Alliance to develop a targeted workshop and information session.
Over three hours you will be provided with invaluable information about how to write a successful grant and/or tender application, better understand how grants and tenders are assessed to increase your chances, and tips for pitching for your new idea. The session will focus on providing you with the skills and knowledge to write a successful application and seek investment.
The workshop will include information about the current grant opportunities, but will be able to be applied to any grant, tender or investment opportunity.
Participants will also receive the RDA Adelaide Investment Attraction tool.
Who should attend?
Any company that wants to navigate the various grants available, write business cases, tenders and pitch for their services and products. Particularly if you want to learn more about some of the new SA grants on offer for businesses.

Mike Hawkins, Director Regional Development, RDA Adelaide
As Director of Regional Development Mike is focused on Investment Attraction activities for RDA Adelaide. Mike has a background in local government and assisting small business and held senior management positions with a focus on job creation and business development. He has managed local Business Enterprise Centres and assisted with the national small business advisory network. Mike also been active as the Chair of various school councils and has also delivered governance training to school boards. Mike is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and enjoys working with various organisations to grow Local economies.
Kenneth Taplin, CEO, RDA Adelaide
Kenneth joined the RDA Adelaide team in October 2011 with over 20 years corporate and commercial experience in the public and private sectors. This background is complemented by strong business change management and start-up experience. Previously he was the SA (and acting NSW) State Director Enterprise Connect, CEO of Garrisons Accounting Group (ASX listed), Managing Director of IOOF Trustee Group and Business Advisor to a number of small-medium-enterprises. Kenneth's qualifications include a Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Executive Diploma in Business Planning, Diploma of Public Relations. Previous Board and Committee positions include Chairman of Advisory Boards, Board Member of Not-For-Profit Foundations in South Australia and as a Judge for Prime Minister's Sustainable Investment Award.
Rachel Barratt, WIA CEO
Prior to taking up the role with the WIA Rachel was a successful consultant who provided a range of business planning and advisory services. As a consultant Rachel was engaged by Local and State government to develop complex business cases and was successful in securing over $240 million in various environmental works and measures grants from the Commonwealth. In addition Rachel developed various grant assessment processes including the SA River Murray Sustainability Program and provided on ongoing advice to the assessment team.
