Water Creation Tours

Diversifying sources of water. Think demand management, rainwater harvesting, wastewater reuse, urban stormwater harvesting, desalination and managed aquifer recharge.

The GAP Project
See the 32 kilometre network that currently provides recycled water from the Glenelg Wastewater Treatment Plant to Adelaide’s Park Lands and city gardens.

Metropolitan Water Treatment Plants
Adelaide’s three major metropolitan wastewater treatment plants process more than 250 megalitres of wastewater every day. Tour Bolivar treatment plant which processes almost 70% of metropolitan Adelaide's wastewater and provides treated wastewater suitable for direct irrigation of market gardens through the Virginia Pipeline Scheme. Alternatively tour one of the 20 regional water treatment plants, including low quality water treatment.

Urban stormwater harvesting
The Wetlands take polluted stormwater from Tea Tree Gully, Para Hills and Salisbury and clean it up as it's filtered through the reedbeds and ponds.

Aquifer Storage Recharge
The Department of Primary Industries and Resources South Australia (PIRSA) and the City of Salisbury in conjunction with the CSIRO Centre have pioneered ASR in South Australia over the past 15 years for Groundwater Studies and local consultants.

A feasibility trial at The Paddocks wetlands conducted by the City of Salisbury and Mines and Energy, South Australia, demonstrated that significant volumes of good quality water could be harvested and stored in this way.

Meet CSIRO Land and Water
CSIRO research activities reflect national and international priorities. They are finding new ways to use less water in agriculture and other industries, to re-use or recycle urban and industrial waters and wastes, while also protecting our rivers, catchments and groundwater reserves.

Wastewater Reuse
Meet with SA Water, Department of Water Land and Biodiversity and the Department of health to hear about Policies, management controls, technologies providing recycled wastewater and the end use application, associated environmental impacts and controls, the quality of water achieved and public acceptance of it.

SA Water Centre for Water Management and Reuse
Meet the researchers with leading edge research and technology in urban water resources management, water and waste water treatment, water reuse, total water cycle management and water sensitive urban design.

Adelaide Desalination Plant
Meet with the management behind Adelaide’s first large scale desalination plant. By December 2010 this will be providing 50GL of water to the Adelaide Community.

Osmoflo
Australia's world class desalination company. Osmoflo specialises in custom designed innovative water treatment solutions.

Meet the Water Industry Alliance Members who are innovatively creating water
Your opportunity to meet our members involved with providing the leading edge technology to provide clean water to mines, hospitals, watering vineyards with recycled wastewater and harvesting stormwater to create healthy wetlands.
