The Water Industry Alliance Portal is an industry-driven initiative representing over 200 South Australian based organisations seeking national and international water-related commercial projects.
For the Alliance, the Portal will provide new opportunities to strengthen communication and interaction enabling members to access, create, discuss and promote information exchange in a timely manner. The Electronic Communication team has worked hard to ensure the portal is positioned as a focal point for member communication, promotion of member capabilities, reviewing business opportunities, and translating these opportunities into viable commercial ventures.
In addition, it will become an effective data gathering and communication medium for companies wishing to form strategic alliances with other companies both in Australia and overseas
In looking to develop the Portal the Alliance applied for a grant with the National Office for the Information Economy (NOIE), Australia's lead Commonwealth body for information economy issues. NOIE actively promotes community participation in the information economy. In outlining the purpose of the grant and its ability to assist with the development of the South Australian water industry, the Alliance was successful in obtaining a grant from the Information Technology Online Program (ITOL), which is part of NOIE.
As recognised by the ITOL grant, the Water Industry Alliance Portal represents one of the most significant initiatives of the Alliance to support the major objective of facilitating collaboration between companies who share a common interest.
